What We Used And The Color It Showed
Magnesium (Mg): White
Potassium (K): Lavender
Lithium (Li): Red
Boron (B): Green
Strontium (Sr): Dark Orange
Iron (Fe): Orange
Copper (Cu): Dark Green
Sodium (Na): Yellow
The flame test was a fun lab that we preformed with Andrew. We put a flame to many different types of metals to see what color they gave off. We learned how to identify the metals by burning them. At first I didn't know what was going on and why they gave off the reaction they did. Into more research, I found that it's because of the atom structure. I really enjoyed this activity because it was something new to me and was cool to see how they lit up and what colors they gave off. If we were to take this lab any further, we could've used more types of metals and researched more into it.
